Why I Do This

I'm Dave, and this page is the honest reason this site exists. Not the polished "about us" reason — the real one.

The honest reason

I'm a trust-first person. I assume people are trustworthy until they prove me wrong — because if I didn't, I'd be horribly cynical, and I don't want to live that way.

Yes, I've been burned. But getting burned didn't make me distrusting. It taught me something better: verify. Trust the person, check the claim.

That's the whole reason I'm doing this. The health world is broken in a specific way. People got burned by doctors and drug companies — sometimes badly. Now a lot of them don't know who to trust, so they either trust no one, or they trust the wrong person. I want to help fix that.

Not by telling you to trust more. By giving you a place you actually can.

How we work

The promise is the same for every page on this site:

How we make money

This one deserves its own section, because it's where most health sites lose you — and where we refuse to.

We make money from affiliate links: if you buy something through a link on our site, we may get a small commission. Here is the rule that never bends:

We are reader-supported, not brand-paid. If we ever break that rule, this site is worth nothing — and we know it.

Who's behind it

I'm not a doctor, and I won't pretend to be. I'm a researcher and a curator — my job is to read the science and tell you what's real and what's noise.

But I'm not checking medical claims alone. I have a brother who's a pharmacist and a sister who's a hospice doctor. They keep me honest.

We are researchers, not doctors. Our job is not to treat you. It's to read the studies, flag the hype, and let you make your own call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who runs My Longevity Edge?

Dave, the founder. He's a researcher and curator, not a doctor. He reads the studies so you don't have to, and he has a brother who's a pharmacist and a sister who's a hospice doctor to keep the medical claims honest.

How do you make money, and does it change what you recommend?

Through affiliate links — if you buy something through our site, we may get a small commission. But the evidence grade is always assigned before any link is attached, and a commission never changes a grade. We also openly tell you not to buy when the evidence is weak. We're reader-supported, not brand-paid.

Are you doctors?

No. We're researchers, not doctors. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and we answer the "can I prevent or slow this" questions — never "I'm diagnosed, what do I do." For anything medical, see a real doctor.

How do I know I can trust what you publish?

Check our work. Every claim links to the actual study, we flag who funded it, and we tell you what we don't know yet. If a claim has no study behind it, we don't publish it. And we never let a commission change a grade. The best way to trust us is to verify us.

Why "trust the person, check the claim"?

Because trust and verification are not opposites — they're a pair. Dave is a trust-first person who's been burned, and the lesson wasn't "stop trusting." It was "verify." That's the whole philosophy of this site: respect the reader, then show your work.
